Safe to say, you are not alone. Yeah, we all at one time in our lives have been down that road, so, if you find yourself down that path right now, don't worry, you will be fine and in no time you will find a way out of there without losing the confidence that you need to confront life daily. Feelings of failure are inevitable, like sweating, they must occur, as long as we're engaged in a physical activity. It is inescapable and no one comes out of there without recurring moments of self-doubt, low self-esteem, anxiety, and sadness. While many people can handle the downside of feelings of failure, the majority of others find it such a tough phase to navigate. Whenever it threatens to overwhelm you remember the experience is not unique to you alone. Several people faced the same struggles and emerged from it stronger than ever. In this blog post, we'll explore a few strategies for navigating life especially when you are feeling like a failure. Drawing from the story of Hussaini.

Hussaini's Story

Hussaini is 33, a college dropout, and a deliveryman for a food service company. He doesn't feel like he's achieved anything of note. While he enjoys his job, he feels like others are ahead of him in life. The feelings of failure constantly overwhelm him. One day at work he returns sullen and unusually quiet. He had just delivered a package to a customer, it happened that the customer was a childhood buddy. For the rest of the day, he wallowed in despair, self-pity, and defeat. The feelings lingered for a long period, always creeping up on him in unguarded moments, during conversations with friends and family at home or colleagues at work. Adrian a friend at work suggested seeing a therapist after noticing Hussaini's dwindling happiness. Hussain hesitated but finally admitted to needing help. Through professional help, he learned to navigate the feelings of failure much better. Hussaini's story feels unique, seeing he's largely uneducated and an unskilled laborer, yet, the feelings of failure, as in his case, can overtake anyone leaving them feeling empty, defeated, and helpless.

Embrace Failure

Failure is a journey, not the end, it's important to understand this. On this journey of life, failure can feel like a detour. Yet, Hussaini's story can be a source of inspiration for anyone facing setbacks in life, to know that, like Hussainiz they too can come out of it victorious. Through expert help Hussaini returned to college and finished his degree, however, he was not willing to start over, so he co-founded a food service company with an old friend and college and lived the rest of his life feeling more fulfilled, happy, and purposeful. For anyone going through a similar struggle, acknowledging where you are on your life dreams, how to move from point A to B, whether it is venturing into a new career path or pursuing education, the point is not to feel left out and irredeemable late. Embrace possibilities and shoot for the stars, that's right!

Shift Perspectives

Chasing your dreams at 40, as seemingly late as it might seem is an act of courage, a thing of pride, not an embarrassment. To overcome feelings of failure you have to learn to pursue your dreams no matter how late it might seem. In Hussaini's case, he had to return to get his college degree and embrace a fresh start, at nearly 40. It seemed like the lamest thing to do considering his age, but it turned out to be the best decision of his life. Understanding that each one of us is on a unique journey and that there are no set deadlines for what we can achieve is crucial for drowning the voices of self-doubt. Within you lies the power to steer your life to the desired destination, whether at 18 or 70, it's up to you.

Embracing the Journey: Unlimited Strikes

Life is full of opportunities, it is not a raffle draw, so make the most of the limitless possibilities. It might seem like, as you age, you gradually lose out on many chances, but no. Just like in the game of soccer, you have a full ninety minutes and extra time to score, learn to take chances, even risks, and go for the goal. Understanding that our past or the present can be a setback for the future, refusing to yield to the negative voices inside our head, and approaching each day with renewed faith in ourselves to pursue our dreams. Like Hussaini, you have to learn to embrace change let yourself take in the process, and push yourself up.

Finding Purpose in Resilience

To overcome self-doubt one must be resilient and determined. Self-doubt is a persistent feeling that can creep up on anyone at random moments, reminding you of what you're yet to achieve and may likely not achieve, in comparison to your peers. Thus, to conquer fear and the feelings of failure you must be relentless. Just like Hussaini, finding your way back to the things that bring you the greatest fulfillment is key. For him, it was a college degree and starting afresh, for you, it could mean volunteering, acquiring new knowledge or hobbies, whatever it is, starting where you stand. Let your determination drown out all your fears and self-doubt.

Conclusion

Feelings of failure are inevitable, like sweating, they must occur, as long as we're engaged in a physical activity. It is inescapable and no one survives it without moments of self-doubt, low self-esteem, anxiety, and sadness. To navigate life and its challenges, including feelings of failure, you must be resilient and determined. Embracing failure as a part of life, and making the most of every challenge is crucial for overcoming self-doubt. There's no set deadline for arriving at your destination in life, you just have to look beyond the limitations and focus on the limitless possibilities. Keep fear aside and go for it!
