Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
1. What is therapy? How therapy can help me?
Therapy is a collaborative process where you work with a trained professional to explore and address challenges. You can also learn coping skills, and enhance overall well-being. It provides a supportive space to discuss emotions, thoughts, and behaviours, leading to personal growth and positive change.
2. How do I know if therapy is right for me?
Therapy can benefit individuals facing various challenges, including stress, anxiety, depression, relationship issues, grief, and life transitions. If you're experiencing difficulties that impact your daily life, relationships, or emotional well-being, therapy may be a helpful resource. A consultation with a therapist can help determine if therapy is a good fit for your needs.
3. How do I choose the right therapist for me?
Choosing the right therapist is crucial for a positive therapy experience. Consider factors such as the therapist's experience, specialization, approach, and personality. You may also want to ask for recommendations, read therapist profiles, and schedule an initial consultation to assess the therapeutic fit.
4. What types of therapy do you offer?

7. Do you accept insurance?
Yes! Amy is currently registered for direct billing and accepts a variety of insurance plans. Please contact our office, and our team will assist you in verifying your insurance coverage and explaining any associated costs. Other therapists require payment up front and then offer an invoice and receipt that you can then submit to your insurance company. If you don’t have insurance, you can save the receipts for tax time.
8. Is therapy tax deductible?
Yes, you can claim therapy receipts as a taxable medical expense. Please save the receipts we provide for tax season.
9. What happens during the first therapy session?
The first session typically involves an initial assessment, where you and your therapist discuss your goals, concerns, and relevant background information. This helps the therapist understand your needs and tailor a treatment plan to address your specific challenges.
10. How often should I attend therapy sessions?
The frequency of therapy sessions depends on your individual needs and goals. Initially, sessions may be scheduled weekly, and as progress is made, they may become less frequent. Your therapist will collaborate with you to determine the optimal session frequency.
