My Story

I have always been a “helper’, interested in people, the way they think, and how they live their lives. My career path has gone in many directions but has always reflected my fascination with the human psyche. I received my Bachelor of Science in Psychology at Western Ontario and then worked at Women’s College Hospital and Rehabilitation Network Canada where I administered intelligence tests to children and adults. I then spent a decade as a creative writer in advertising, learning the ins and outs of the corporate world and the impact it can have on one’s mental health.
I now live in Toronto with my husband and two kids. I decided to start working in counselling after experiencing my own set of challenges in the perinatal period, including trauma and having a baby with colic. I realized how unsupported many people are in their challenges, and felt a need to help others navigate life. So I returned to school, received my masters in Counselling Psychology and trained to become a Registered Psychotherapist. I then practiced psychotherapy at a shelter for pregnant and postpartum women and I have been in private practice with a variety of clients ever since.
In this process, I became passionate about about exploring and helping people get to the roots of their feelings, and creating space for all people who are suffering to have healing and re-discover the joy of life. Many of the clients I see come in saying they just aren’t feeling like themselves, or are struggling with anxiety, trauma, depression or mood disorders. Together, we dig deeper into their challenges to uncover what’s getting in their way. I combine talk therapy with scientifically tested therapies like CBT and DBT to help folks break unhealthy patterns in their thoughts and behaviours, and break through the cycle of trauma.
Whether you’re struggling with depression, worrying endlessly about a baby, experiencing anxiety, trauma, conflict with family members, grief or have lost confidence at work, there are practical coping tools that I can help to have you feel like yourself again.
